World Thyroid Day 2020: What is Thyroid symptoms in men?

Thyroid problems occur in most women. But this problem is increasing in men also due to unbalanced lifestyle.

Thyroid symptoms are very similar in men and women. In the early stages, the disease can cause weight gain, fatigue, and muscle weakness. These minor symptoms make the condition challenging to identify. So how to identify thyroid and what is its treatment. What is thyroid It is a type of endocrine glands that make two hormones in the body called triiodothyronine (T3) and thyroxine (Th4)? The function of these hormones is to maintain metabolic activity.

How does this disease happen?

The disease is caused by the more or less active thyroid gland. There are two types of the thyroid. The first is hyperthyroidism and the second is hypothyroidism. Thyroid symptoms in men also depend on its type.

What is hyperthyroidism?

In this situation, the thyroid gland starts producing excessive thyroid hormone in the body, known as the "overactive thyroid". This affects the heart. Due to which the heartbeat becomes faster. It also weakens the muscles and negatively affects the physical ability of men.

Symptoms of hyperthyroidism in men

Symptoms of this type of thyroid are not understood in the early stages. Because they are mostly connected to the internal parts, a person's interest in hyperthyroidism starts to get away from sex. Because thyroid hormones in the body of men begin to become high, they are at risk of erectile dysfunction. In this, the sperm count of males is reduced.

A male may be unable to become a father when suffering from this disease because excessive production of thyroid hormone can cause men to have sex-related problems. This can cause testosterone deficiency in the body of men.

The bones of men may be weakened due to a more active thyroid gland. This can increase joint pain, prolonged standing problems, etc. There is also a fear of hollowing of bones as the disease progresses, which is called osteoporosis.

Many men may behave like women when suffering from hyperthyroidism. Because during this time the hormones of women can increase in their body. However, the specific disease can be detected only through investigation.

What is Hypothyroidism?

In this disease, the thyroid gland does not produce enough hormones to meet the body's needs. This causes problems such as fatigue, insomnia and irritability.

Symptoms of Hypothyroidism in men

In this state, fatigue starts in some work. The person cannot function by standing for long periods of time, and muscles begin to stretch. At the same time, body aches and cramps occur.

In hypothyroidism, body weight begins to increase. This causes swelling in the mouth and body.

Men may also complain of constipation due to insufficient hormones. This does not clean the stomach properly.

Cholesterol levels rise in this disease. Apart from this, problems such as chills, excessive sleepiness, loss of memory and reduced heartbeat may occur.

The disease can also be hereditary in men. If someone in your family has thyroid disease, it can reach you through genes.
